NC's Kenan-Flagler Business School to host investment
competition for MBAs from top business schools

CHAPEL HILL -Teams of students working on master of business administration degrees at 12 top business schools will apply hedge fund trading strategies to compete at the second annual Evergreen Investments Alpha Challenge at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Kenan-Flagler Business School on Nov. 17.

Students will simulate current investment decisions, gain exposure to high profile judges and sponsors, learn from the best investors in the business and network with MBAs from around the United States and London.

Top business schools with teams competing include Columbia Business School; Duke University's Fuqua School of Business; London Business School; Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management; and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Other schools represented are the Stanford Graduate School of Business; Dartmouth University's Tuck School of Business; University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business; University of Michigan's Ross School of Business; University of Virginia's Darden School of Business; and University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School.

A panel of leading investment professionals - hedge fund managers, institutional portfolio managers and equity research analysts - will serve as judges. Each team will receive a defined set of stocks and then propose a pair trade - one long and one short recommendation. Each team will have 20 minutes to present its strategy and then answer judges' questions. The winning team will take home a $6,000 cash prize. Second- and third-place teams will receive $3,000 and $1,000, respectively.

Sponsors of the event include Evergreen Investments, CFA Institute, Fidelity Investments, Morgan Stanley, Stalla and Wachovia Corp. Capital Management Group.
