Search committee adds 2 members to represent faculty, alumni
CHAPEL HILL – One new faculty member and one alumni representative have been named to serve on the Chancellor’s Search Committee at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The new committee members are Dr. Geoffery Sayre-McCord, professor and chair, department of philosophy, College of Arts and Sciences, and Dwight M. Davidson III, a 1977 UNC alumnus and chair of the General Alumni Association’s Board of Directors, of Gibsonville, N.C.
These additions bring the final list of search committee members to 21. Roger Perry, chair of the UNC Board of Trustees, announced plans for the committee and the initial 19 members representing students, faculty, staff and alumni last week following Chancellor James Moeser’s announcement of his decision to step down from the chancellor’s position next June.
Trustee Nelson Schwab III chairs the search committee, and Perry and UNC Trustee Karol Mason are vice chairs.
Erskine Bowles, president of the 16-campus University of North Carolina, will give the committee its charge at its first organizational meeting, at 3 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Wilson Library Assembly Room. A second meeting has been scheduled Oct. 16 in the Magnolia Room at the Paul J. Rizzo Conference Center at Meadowmont. Public forums are also planned Oct. 26 and 30. Details will be announced.
