Program on Health Outcomes seminar features talk by head of foundation
"Quality Measurement in Health Care: The Role of Public Health Reporting" will be the focus of Wednesday’s (March 27) installment of the UNC Program on Health Outcomes Spring Seminar Series. The address, by Dr. Mark D. Smith, president and chief executive officer of the California HealthCare Foundation and a Carolina alumnus, begins at 3:30 p.m. in the School of Public Health’s Rosenau Auditorium, 133 Rosenau Hall.
Smith has written and spoken extensively on managed care, the health care marketplace and a variety of AIDS-related issues. Prior to joining the California HealthCare Foundation, Smith was executive vice president of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. He is a board-certified internist and a member of the Institute of Medicine who serves on the clinical faculty at the University of California at San Francisco and as an attending physician at Ward 86, the AIDS clinic at San Francisco General Hospital.
Smith received his medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine and is a member of the UNC School of Public Health’s Advisory Council.
