International production, operations management association honors Roth

The Production and Operations Management Society, an international organization, has elected Dr. Aleda Roth, a professor at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, as a fellow for her years of dedicated leadership to the operations management profession.

This lifetime achievement award is one of the highest honors that a professional society can bestow upon an individual, and Roth was in the first cohort of the society’s fellows.

Roth, the Mary Farley Ames Lee distinguished professor of operations, technology and innovation management, is past president of the society, a group representing the interests of professionals in operations and management.

The society publishes the journal Production and Operations Management, for which Roth is a deputy editor. Roth is chair of Kenan-Flagler’s global supply-chain management concentration in the master of business administration program. She also is a member of the Conference Board’s Performance Excellence Council and has served on the boards of the society, the Operations Management Association and the Decision Sciences Institute.

She is associate editor of Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, the Journal of Operations Management and Decision Sciences.

Her current research covers the new paradigms in operations strategy resulting from technological innovation.
