A federal agency has stripped away some of North Carolina's power to limit fees on home mortgage loans....Mortgage lenders and consumer finance companies could also circumvent the law by partnering with national banks, warned Lissa Broome, a professor of bank law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

'Big Fish' is a big adventure

"Big Fish" is the big one that did not get away....While Chapel Hill author Daniel Wallace's first published novel was well received by critics, it jumped to the next level when it was discovered by Hollywood.....Wallace, an Alabama native, attended Emory University in Atlanta and later studied English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He spent two years in Japan before bailing out of a family business and buying a typewriter.

Proposed FSU college split advances

A University of North Carolina Board of Governors committee has approved FSU's request to divide its College of Arts and Sciences into two colleges....The Educational Planning, Policies and Programs committee voted for the move Thursday. Final approval is expected from the full board today.

UNC governors likely to approve land swap with councilman
The Herald-Sun

The UNC system's Board of Governors is expected to approve a land swap today that will allow UNC Chapel Hill to acquire a piece of property owned by Cam Hill, a member of the Town Council.
