Head to Carolina's Kerr Lake facility for family fun

Looking for something fun and exciting to do outside?

Then check out what the Exercise and Sport Sciences Department/Campus Recreation has to offer at Kerr Lake, just 90 minutes north of Chapel Hill.

Use of the area is open to Carolina employees and students and to employees of UNC General Administration.

Like to camp? There are approximately 40 nonreserved campsites available on a first-come/first-serve basis. There are RV, pop-up camper and plenty of tent spaces available. All sites are wooded, near the water and accessible by car.

Do you like boating? A concrete launching ramp and boat dock are available in Catfish Cove. Individual boat sheds, as well as six permanent mooring sites are available for lease. The moorings are sufficient for larger boats, which may be less easily launched.

Thinking of a department retreat, an organization picnic or a day of camping and boating with your Boy Scout Troop? A large-group area complete with shelter, open field and plenty of lake front campsites is ideal. And canoes can be rented by the day or week. Other outdoor gear can be rented through Carolina Outdoor Adventures (2-4179) at the lowest rates in town.

The Kerr Lake Recreation Area is accessible only by key and permits furnished on campus. Call Campus Recreation, 2-1153, for more information and prices.
