UNC-CH public health dean to comment on Clintons proposed health care budget
Dr. William Roper, dean of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hills School of Public Health, will address reporters at the National Press Club at 9 a.m. Monday (Feb. 1) to discuss President Clintons proposed health care budget for fiscal year 2000.
Roper is speaking on behalf of the Coalition for Health Funding, which includes 40 national health organizations whose membership represents more than 40 million health professionals and volunteers.
Each year the coalition, one of the oldest and most broadly based groups in Washington, works with its member organizations to develop consensus funding requests for each public health service agency. It provides the U.S. Congress and the administration with a resource for understanding and interpreting the funding priorities of its members.
Roper will release the coalitions recommendations and address the various public health challenges facing the nation in the millennium.
