UNC-CH researcher to reveal results of new olestra study
Results of an important national study examining effects of the non-caloric fat substitute olestra will be announced Monday (Feb. 15) at a news conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. The briefing will begin at 1:15 p.m. in Room G-7 of the Burnett-Womack Building. Note: This story is embargoed until 5 p.m. EST Monday in keeping with the embargo established by the journal Annals of Internal Medicine, which will publish the findings Tuesday.
Dr. Robert Sandler, professor of medicine at the UNC-CH School of Public Health, will describe the study for which he was principal investigator. Sandler also is co-director of UNC-CHs Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease.
Reporters can park in the Health Affairs Parking Deck on Manning Drive across from UNC Hospitals. Videographers can unload equipment in front of Burnett-Womack, which is to the left of the hospitals main entrance, before moving vehicles to the parking deck. Or they can use the hospitals valet parking service located in front of the hospital main entrance.
