Award-winning professor to discuss memory at Dec. 20 commencement ceremony


Wednesday (Dec. 20), 2 p.m.
Dean E. Smith Center

Dr. Peter Kaufman, an award-winning teacher and professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will talk about memory as the featured speaker at UNC-CHís mid-winter commencement ceremony.

This commencement ceremony recognizes students who completed degrees in summer or December.

Graduates: As of this date, administrators estimate the university will award about 638 bachelorís, 537 masterís, 300 doctoral and 18 professional degrees, for a total of 1,493.

Media kits/seating: Commencement information and an advance copy of Kaufmanís speech will be available from Karen Moon of the News Services staff on the arena floor at the bottom of section 110.

Broadcasters: Audio feeds will be available; a multbox will be located at the bottom of section 124. Call Karen Moon (962-8595) by Dec. 19 (Tuesday) if you have special broadcast needs.

Parking: Reserved parking for the media will be available in the parking lot in back of the Dean E. Smith Center.
