UNC researchers to reveal findings from study of N.C. children's school readiness
Monday, April 23, 2-3 p.m.
Third Floor Conference Room
Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
Disturbing results of an important new study of North Carolina kindergartners' readiness for school will be announced Monday (April 23) at a news conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center. The briefing will begin at 2 p.m. in the third-floor conference room, just inside the center's front door and around to the right.
Dr. Donald Bailey, director of the center; and Dr. Kelly Maxwell, principal investigator, will describe findings from the first-of-its-kind study commissioned by the Ready for School Goal Team and funded by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Child Development. Robin Britt, executive director of United Child Development Services also will speak.
Reporters can park in the Graham center parking lot. Videographers and still photographers may be able to get pictures of children at the center's own nursery but might also want to get tape/film of kindergartners elsewhere.
The center is located at 105 Smith Level Road, which intersects the NC 54
Bypass south of Chapel Hill.
