Editors: News Services reminds you of our new Web page address with detailed local-angle information about students listed by county or state who graduated or earned Deanís List honors in December 2002. See below for details on how to use the Web page.

Local students earn UNC degrees; recognized on Deanís List

CHAPEL HILL -- More than 960 students earned bachelorís, masterís, doctoral or professional degrees in December from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Those students were recognized during a Dec. 20th mid-year commencement ceremony that featured comments from Dr. James Leloudis, professor of history, associate dean for honors and director of the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence at UNC.

In addition, more than 5,007 Carolina students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement by their selection for the 2002 fall semester Deanís List.

Students are eligible for the Deanís List if they earn at least a 3.2 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale while taking 15 or more letter-grade credit hours. They are also eligible if they earn a 3.5 grade-point-average while taking at least 12 letter-grade credit hours. Students must have no grades lower than a "C". On a 4.0 scale, "A" equals 4, "B" equals 3 and "C" equals 2.

To search for those students in your circulation area:

Choose option 1. (Deanís List) or option 2. (Degree Recipients).

For the Semester/Year choose "Fall 2002".

For "ALL STUDENTS" choose "Select".

For "North Carolina County," select your county and from the "State" option, select North Carolina.

Choose an output type Ė HTML is default. Choose between HTML, MS Excel, MS Word or Adobe PDF  formats.  If you choose to receive information as a Word document, report lines greater than 80 characters will cause "line wrapping". When the information is delivered to your site in Word, do the following:

  • From the Menu line, click "File" and "Page Setup" 

  • Adjust the left and right margins. Example try 0.25 " 

  • Click the OK button.

Click "Submit" Ė the results will be displayed in a browser window.
