UNC-Chapel Hill public health researchers to reveal results of study of Internet cigarette sales to minors

Results of an important national study of cigarette sales to minors over the Internet will be announced Tuesday (Sept. 9) at a news conference at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The briefing will begin at 2 p.m. in the conference room of the Visitors’ Center, which is at the west end of the Morehead Building, also home to the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center.
Dr. Kurt Ribisl, assistant professor of health behavior and health education at the UNC School of Public Health, and colleagues will describe their work and findings. Also present will be one of the children who bought cigarettes on the Internet as part of the study. Results of the investigation, embargoed until 4 p.m. EDT Sept. 9 because of Journal of the American Medical Association policy, will appear in the Sept. 10 issue of the journal.
Reporters can park in the gated planetarium parking lot in spaces reserved for the briefing.
