Local students earn UNC degrees
and Dean’s List recognition
CHAPEL HILL — More than 1,000 students earned bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral or professional degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during a Dec. 18 commencement featuring remarks by Dr. Etta Pisano, director of UNC’s Biomedical Research Imaging Center.
In addition, more than 6,000 Carolina students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement by their selection for the fall 2005 Dean’s List.
Students are eligible for the Dean’s List if they earn at least a 3.2 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale while taking 15 or more letter-grade credit hours. They also are eligible if they earn a 3.5 grade-point-average while taking at least 12 letter-grade credit hours. Students must have no grades lower than a "C." On a 4.0 scale, "A" equals 4, "B" equals 3 and "C" equals 2.

For Editors – How to use the Web site
To search for those students in your circulation area:
- On the left-hand side of the browser, choose option 1 (Dean’s List) or option 2 (Degree Recipients). Note: There is not a default set for these two fields.
- For the Semester/Year choose "fall 2005."

For "ALL STUDENTS" choose "Yes" ORo
For "North Carolina County," select your county ORo
For "State" select your state.
- Choose an output type – HTML is the default but other options are MS Excel, MS Word or Adobe PDF formats.
- Click "Submit" – the results will be displayed in a browser window.
