Film, fog, ‘First House’ are part of
wide-ranging Hanes artist lecture series
CHAPEL HILL – An artist who bases compositions on memories, a filmmaker who documented twins who created their own language and the chairwoman of the nation’s top sculpture department will speak at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The lectures are part of this spring’s Hanes Visiting Artist Lecture Series sponsored by UNC’s art department, a part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Free to the public, the lectures will be held at 5:30 p.m. in 121 Hanes Art Center. Parking will be available in the Hanes lot off Cameron Avenue.
"The Hanes Visiting Artist Lecture Series is a wonderful way for people to experience contemporary art – they have a chance to have an insider’s look at the creative process," said Beth Grabowski, director of undergraduate studies for studio art. "We have a variety of artistic approaches represented in the series – two- and three-dimensional, abstract to narrative."
The art department also will feature several exhibitions in the department’s John and June Allcott Gallery this spring. For more information, call (919) 962-2015 or visit www.webslingerz.com/depts/art/.
