Robbery reported on Stadium Drive;
campus community urged to use caution
CHAPEL HILL – A University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student reported being robbed of her laptop computer and other items early Tuesday (Feb. 28) morning as she was walking on Stadium Drive, UNC campus police said.
No weapon was seen by the victim, and neither she nor the friend with her was injured.
The suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall and between the ages of 30 and 40, with a graying goatee or beard, according to the police report. The suspect also was reported to be wearing entirely black clothing with a hooded sweatshirt.
In addition to the laptop, the victim’s wallet and cell phone were reported stolen.
UNC public safety officials asked anyone with information concerning this case to call the department at (919) 962-8100 or Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC CrimeStoppers at (919) 942-7515. Callers to CrimeStoppers are neither asked to reveal their identity nor appear in court.
