More than 1,000 earn UNC degrees,
6,300-plus make Dean's List for fall

CHAPEL HILL – More than 1,020 students earned bachelor's, master's, doctoral or professional degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill during the Dec. 17 commencement ceremony, which featured remarks by Holden Thorp, Kenan professor of chemistry and chair of the chemistry department in the College of Arts and Sciences.

In addition, more than 6,300 Carolina students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement through their selection for the Dean's List for fall 2006.

Students are eligible for the list if they earn at least a 3.2 grade-point-average on a 4.0 scale while taking 15 or more letter-grade credit hours. They are also eligible if they earn a 3.5 grade-point-average while taking at least 12 letter-grade credit hours. Students must have no grades lower than a “C.” On a 4.0 scale, “A” equals 4, “B” equals 3 and “C” equals 2.

To search for those students in your circulation area:

• On the left side of the browser, choose option 1 (Dean's List) or option 2 (Degree Recipients). Note: You must choose a field. The browser does not default to a value.
• For the Semester/Year, choose “Spring 2006”
• For “ALL STUDENTS” choose “Yes” OR
• For “North Carolina County,” select your county OR
• For “State” select your state
• Choose an output type - HTML is the default but other options include MS Excel, MS Word or Adobe PDF formats.
• Click “Submit” - the results will be displayed in a browser window.
