UNC student leaders, officials to kick off
one-stop satellite voting at Morehead

CHAPEL HILL -- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student leaders and the university's chief academic officer will team up Monday, Oct. 18, to formally kick off the beginning of satellite voting at the Morehead Building on the UNC campus.

Dr. Robert Shelton, executive vice chancellor and provost; Matt Calabria, student body president; Justin Guillory, Young Democrats president; and Jordan Selleck, College Republicans chairman; will gather at 9 a.m. on the 18th to encourage members of the campus community to take advantage of the Morehead site and to vote. They are among speakers scheduled to speak briefly at 9 a.m. on the Visitors' Center steps of Morehead adjacent McCorkle Place. Then the group will go inside to vote.

The event is being sponsored by Vote Carolina, the non-partisan voter education arm of Student government.

UNC-Chapel Hill will again offer one-stop voting for the Nov. 2 election at the Morehead Building from Oct. 18 - 30, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All Orange County residents, including students, may vote in advance of the election at the satellite site. On Election Day, voters must go to their designated precincts to vote.

For students this is especially difficult, since campus is divided into six different precincts, three of them off campus, event organizers said.
