Statement from Former Co-Workers of Jamie Bishop:

We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn that our former colleague and friend Jamie Bishop was killed yesterday in the tragedy at Virginia Tech. Jamie’s thoughtfulness, energy, and laughter made him a wonderful peer and friend to many in the Office of Arts and Sciences Information Services (OASIS), the College of Arts and Sciences, and the UNC community as a whole.

Jamie worked with many departments during his tenure at OASIS, supporting the needs of faculty, staff, and graduate students throughout the College. Jamie’s hard work and dedication influenced the way in which many foreign language courses are taught at UNC. His legacy continues to shape the education of thousands of students to this day. Jamie’s passion for education coupled with his creativity made him a truly exceptional Academic Technology Liaison and an integral part of the Office of Arts and Sciences Information Services.

Even after Jamie and his wife Stefanie left for Virginia Tech in 2005 his work lived on and his friendships here continued to thrive. Stefanie, their family, and the entire Virginia Tech community are in our thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
