Unmasking Africa

O.A.S.I.S. presents its annual week long cultural activties and performances. During this week, O.A.S.I.S hosts a variety of events, such as a mini marketplace & dance workshop, ending off the week with the Africa Night show this year called "A Diamond in the Rough."
- Monday, March 15th: African Market Place
Mini-market simulation with free food samples, henna tattoos, music & dance performances.

Hosted by the UNC's Otseden Drumming Group, participants will learn traditional drumming techniques used in West Africa.

- Wednesday, March 17th: Art Auction
"Artistic Inspiration: Illuminating the African Continent through Artistic Expression"
An art auction featuring twenty two African and African Inspired artworks, this event will be held in conjunction with Carolina for Kibera. All proceeds made will support Malaria No More & Carolina for Kibera.

- Thursday, March18th: Keynote Lecture
James Kofi Annan, Challenging Heights: Ending child trafficking
A survivor of child trafficking himself, James Kofi Annan will speak about child trafficking & child labor in Ghana. Having started a non-profit working to end such practices, he will show a short documentary, speak of his own life's journey in & out of child trafficking & present an African solution to this growing problem.

- Saturday the 20th: Africa Night: "Diamond in the Rough"
As the biggest show of its kind in North Carolina, it will feature a play, fashion show, dance & spoken word performances. All proceeds will be donated to Malaria No More's net distribution project in Nigeria. Tickets will be on sale in the pit and online.
