Departmental Financial Assistance:
If you choose, you will be considered for graduate and teaching assistantships
awarded by the Department and the Research Laboratories of Anthropology.
The department receives a number of year-long or o ne-semester teaching
assistant positions. These normally carry a stipend of approximately $10,000
per year for 15 hours a week of work. In addition, students (receiving
assistantships) are recommended for the "special tuition" rate,
which permits out-of- state students to pay in-state tuition. Most of
these awards are allotted to students in their first three years of study.
They are distributed annually among incoming and continuing students on
a competitive basis.
The department has academic funds sufficient to support a majority of
our students, but not all. Some worthy applicants may have to rely on
personal funds, loans or outside employment.
