Deadlines: To be considered for all University and Departmental awards, all materials must be received by the Graduate School and the Department no later than:

Please note that the deadline has been changed from Dec. 1st to Jan. 1st by the Graduate School. Our normal procedure is to review all applications that are completed during the early spring for admissions for the following fall.

Departmental Financial Assistance:

If you choose, you will be considered for graduate and teaching assistantships awarded by the Department and the Research Laboratories of Anthropology. The department receives a number of year-long or o ne-semester teaching assistant positions. These normally carry a stipend of approximately $10,000 per year for 15 hours a week of work. In addition, students (receiving assistantships) are recommended for the "special tuition" rate, which permits out-of- state students to pay in-state tuition. Most of these awards are allotted to students in their first three years of study. They are distributed annually among incoming and continuing students on a competitive basis.

The department has academic funds sufficient to support a majority of our students, but not all. Some worthy applicants may have to rely on personal funds, loans or outside employment.
