Come join us at the Eighth Annual North Carolina Alliance to Create Opportunity through Education (NC OPT-ED) Alliance Day conference, scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Center, Greensboro, NC.  The theme “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics:  Preparation for Excellence in the Global Economy” - reflects our Alliance’s recognition that the 21st Century world-class workforce must be prepared and trained to meet the needs of everyday citizens and the real-world economy.  This year, one of the primary focus areas of the conference is biotechnology and the career pathways that comprise its development, manufacturing and research.

This Nationally recognized conference offers you the opportunity to network with faculty and students from other major Institutions, as well as to assist you in making preparations for your future achievements in life and the sciences.

There will be recruiters from undergraduate and graduate degree programs from numerous institutions interested in your educational advancement.  Come prepared to share in this experience.

This conference is co-sponsored by the North Carolina Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (NC AGEP) and the NC Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (NC-LSAMP).  Both programs are funded through the National Science Foundation Directorate for Education and Human Resources.  The goal is to substantially enhance efforts in North Carolina to increase significantly the number of domestic students receiving doctoral degrees in the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), with special emphasis on those population groups underrepresented in these fields (i.e., African Americans, Hispanics, American Indians, Alaska Natives, native Hawaiians or other Pacific Islanders).

See you at Alliance Day on October 2, 2009.
