Crosstalks

Crosstalks are held 3 times a year alternating locations between each of the three AGEP institutions. The purpose of the graduate student crosstalks are to provide opportunities for underrepresented minority (URM) graduate students from across the NC OPT-ED Alliance to come together for informal conversations in the form of discussion groups, networking, programmatic activities and socialization.

There is an active Graduate Student Network, with approximately 40 participants that has formed from out of the crosstalks.

Upcoming Crosstalk

February 1, 2008
Graduate Student Crosstalk

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Faculty Dining Room in Williams Cafeteria

NC A&T State University, Greensboro

On the heels of the success and feedback of previous Graduate Student Crosstalks, we will again be providing opportunities for networking, socializing, and facilitated & structured discussion.

The issus at the cutting edge of Science and Technology today can no longr be addressed solely within the constructs for one discipline.  Today, issues such as global warming, ensuring a safe food supply, the globalization of the marketplace and eugenics require professionals to engage in conversations across disciplines.  This crosstalk will provide you an opportunity to talk with fellow graduate students about some of these topics.

Heavy appetizers will be provided. Also, plan to continue the socializing locally with your fellow graduate students after the Crosstalk.

Past Crosstalks

Graduate Student Crosstalk

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Graduate Student Center, UNC-Chapel Hill

You spoke when we asked for your feedback about Graduate Student Crosstalks and we have listened...This school year’s Kickoff Graduate Student Crosstalk
will provide lots of opportunities for networking and socializing.

The event will feature opportunities to casually interact with graduate students from other area universities, structured discussions, and even some fun competitions!!

This is a great networking opportunity, and a chance to take a break from your schoolwork for a bit and socialize!!  As a change for this Crosstalk, we will be serving reception style heavy appetizers instead of a sit down meal to further promote mixing, mingling, and networking.
