From the Presbyterian Campus Minister:
Note to self: Internships are important!! 10 years ago I finished a two-year stint as the intern for campus ministry at Presbyterian Campus Ministry under Ollie Wagner . It exposed me to the wonderful world of campus ministry that I have been called to now for the past 10 years. I am excited about coming back this summer 2008 after my first call as the campus minster at McCallie School in Chattanooga , TN. After 10 years of high school ministry and at an all boys institution, now I get to go to college and at a coeducational campus. WOW!!
I have a real interest in being the campus minister at a church where it embraces a "student's approach" to ministry. I love that PCM is a place where you can ask questions, fellowship, struggle, laugh, cry, support, retreat, renew, and study with other students at similar stages in their faith development. Now that you are swimming in the sea of claiming your independent identity, I along with PCM are happy to provide a little bridge between the world of academia and the church. One thing you need to know about me and what PCM wants to communicate more than anything, is that YOU MATTER! Your voice is one we want to hear and it is my prayer that PCM be that place where we all can grow more fully into the grace that we see in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My hope this fall is to focus on three things that are deeply connected to one another--- call it a model of ministry for college students: 1) ME 2) US and 3) THOSE OUT THERE. I am not sure about the acronym "M.U.T." yet, but I think you see what I am trying to say. How do we care for our own spiritual needs while nurturing relationships with others at PCM? And then, how do those focal points help us look beyond ourselves to the needs of others locally and around the world? Who knows? This might change... might be tweaked over the years, but all-in-all I think it looks a lot like the ministry of Jesus we see and hear about in the New Testament.
Come on over to PCM. If you want to stop by for dinner/ fellowship/ program on a Thursday night or chat with me, we would love to see you. All are welcome. If you are Presbyterian or from another tradition the door is always open -symbolically speaking... Hope to see you soon.
Grace and Peace,
John Rogers

From the Administrative Assistant:
We (my husband and I) came here 26 years ago for grad school and just couldn't leave this "southern part of heaven". We almost qualify as "natives" by Chapel Hill standards! I have been a member of University Presbyterian Church for almost as long, and have worked at PCM since 1998! This job is such a joy-- I love working with and around college students who are at such a lively, fun and often challenging point in their lives. I am always happy to help out, so call or email me if you need anything!
