We usually have several research studies running and are always looking for adult participants. Our research relies on people volunteering and your participation is greatly appreciated and vital to the continued success of our research.

We are currently looking for research participants for the following studies:

Daily Reflection Study

The purpose of this research study is to learn whether and how people can improve their mental and physical health by taking a brief moment to reflect on life each day. In this study, three different micro interventions will be tested, each delivered by email, and UNC researchers will learn whether and how each is effective at increasing well-being and reducing stress.

You must be at least 18 years of age and not enrolled in school. Duration of the study is for 9 weeks and includes three 45-minute online surveys, two 20-minute lab visits, and six weeks of daily, brief (2-minute) surveys.

Meditation and Decision Making

The purpose of this research study is to learn about how emotions alter bodily systems in ways that facilitate positive behavior change.

You must be between the ages of 35 and 64 years old. Duration of the study is for 4 weeks and involves a 90-minute laboratory testing session, 3 weekly online questionnaires, and a 45-minute follow-up visit at Week 4.

Carolina Daily Health Study

The purpose of this research study is to learn about how emotions, through meditation, alter bodily systems in ways that promote healthy lifestyle behavior changes. Therefore, we are looking for people who are interested in making lifestyle changes. In addition to the meditation classes, a web portal provides tools to improve your success in these lifestyle changes. At the beginning of the meditation classes, you will have access to a personalized report on your health behaviors and to interactive exercises that scientific research has shown help increase your chances of success in your chosen healthy lifestyle changes.

You must be between the ages of 35 and 64 years old. Duration of the study is for 18 months and includes 6 weeks of meditation classes, lab visits at Baseline, 3 months, and 18 months, daily surveys for 11 weeks, and quarterly surveys at 6-, 9-, 12-, and 15-months.
