Synopsis
This program is for undergraduates seriously contemplating research careers in biological sciences, biochemistry, biophysics, or computational biology. Its principal component is participation in an original research project under the guidance of a faculty member, including an oral and written presentation of results in the final week. Undergraduate researchers, housed together on campus, also will participate in weekly seminars by faculty members and departmental social activities. The program is supported by an award to the University of Pittsburgh from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Biological Sciences Education Program.

This program is best suited for students who will become juniors and seniors, although anyone is invited to apply.  Applications from women and other underrepresented groups are encouraged.  Applications must include the application form, a transcript, two letters of recommendation, and a written statement of goals and objectives.
