Erik
Engstrom, Assistant Professor
of Political Science, received his Ph.D. from the University
of California, San Diego (2003). His research and teaching interests
lie in American politics with a focus on American national institutions,
parties and elections, and political development. His current projects
include a study of the politics of congressional redistricting during
the 19th and early 20th centuries, an examination of the effects of
presidential coattails on party control of the U.S. Congress, and an
analysis of the consequences of state legislative term limits on electoral
