UNC Digital Library Project |
The diagram below shows the relationships between three components of the Digital Library database. The Directory handles the storage and indexing of metadata records, the Controlled Vocabularies repository stores both flat and hierarchical vocabularies for the convenience of users who will be cataloging digital objects for the DL, and the User Management tables store data about users and groups and the digital objects they have grouped in their accounts. The structure of these pieces is now fairly stable, but is still subject to change. In particular, there will be some changes made to the indexing tables and to the Vocabulary repository to add support for Unicode. We will, in addition, be adding a Schema repository and a Crosswalk repository to the database. Please check back for updates, including annotated versions of the database schemata. |
