Need: A Web-based tool (or tools) to allow for the editing of metadata records. This tool should allow authorized users to edit the contents of elements in any registered schema, to create new elements allowed by that schema, and to delete existing elements in that schema. It will also allow for the creation or deletion of entire metadata records. Given the relative complexity of the XML metadata records stored in the database, it seems reasonable that there be more than one interface for this tool, perhaps a wizard-type interface for unsophisticated users and an expert interface for users comfortable with the structure of the metadata. Wizard - uses a to-be-determined default list of required elements - should allow the user to add extra information Expert Interface - presents users with a list of all possible elements - clicking on an element results in the list of entries for that element type being displayed. |
