The North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement works together with the North Carolina AHEC Program. The Program aims to meet the needs of the state’s health and health workforce by cooperating with academic institutions, health care agencies, and other organizations to provide educational programs designed to improve the health of the people of North Carolina. AHEC programs focus on improving the distribution and retention of healthcare providers, enhancing the quality of health care, improving the diversity and cultural understanding of the health care workforce, and addressing the health care needs of communities and populations that are traditionally underserved. Thomas Bacon serves as Director for the AHEC Program. For more information on the North Carolina AHEC program, visit www.ncahec.net.
Through its teaching, research and public service, Carolina connects with the people of our state every day in ways that improve lives and build futures.
