Office of the Vice Chancellor
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement was created to build and strengthen relationships between Carolina and communities across North Carolina. Our office is here to help – we address issues that North Carolinians are concerned about, and work towards solving problems facing communities both in and outside of North Carolina. We’re building bridges and strengthening ties between members of the community and the faculty and staff here at Carolina. Our work is all bound by a commitment to improving life for all North Carolinians. People at Carolina—students, faculty, staff, researchers, and others—are making a difference, and we are celebrating their achievements and encouraging the Carolina community and all North Carolinians to help make our state the best it can be.
Carolina Engagement Council
The Carolina Engagement Council assists the Vice Chancellor for Public Service and Engagement. It provides information and advice about public service opportunities to both Carolina and the community, and it recommends programs that increase Carolina’s involvement in community engagement projects. The Carolina Engagement Council is made up of a group of individuals dedicated to public service and engagement—representatives from Carolina’s College of Arts and Sciences and professional schools, supervisors of campus-wide public service programs, and others chosen for their experience and commitment to university engagement and community outreach. The Council is committed to promoting Carolina’s mission of community involvement and public service, and encouraging meaningful interactions and connections between the University and the communities of North Carolina.

Through its teaching, research and public service, Carolina connects with the people of our state every day in ways that improve lives and build futures.
