What We Do

Service

In SAI, we are all about service. We perform many service projects throughout the year. You'll notice us every December in the Hill Hall rotunda, handing out hot chocolate to stressed-out, exam- and jury-ridden students. We also frequently visit Carol Woods, the local retirement community. We do various community service projects on campus, such as polishing bells for church bell choirs and volunteering in the Children's Hospital. We have a team representing SAI at Dance Marathon every year, and we have raised money for and participated in various fundraising events. Our main focus as a fraternity is on service, especially through music. If you have an idea for us, or if you would like us to help with a project, please contact Adena Hockaday, our Service Chair. Please keep in mind that we are a music organization, and while we are service-oriented, we try to keep music at the heart of everything we do.

Receptions

If you're involved in the UNC Music Department, you've probably seen SAI at various musical events, providing the reception after a performance. One way we stay involved on campus is to offer our services through receptions. These are very popular with both large groups, such as band, choir and orchestra, and with smaller, individual recitals. SAI is a familiar, experienced organization that always fulfills our reception orders with the utmost professionalism. If you'd like to place a reception order, please fill out our Reception Order Form or contact Amanda Manning.

Sister Time

One of the most important things to us as sisters is the time that we spend together. Besides seeing each other every Sunday night for our weekly meetings, we have many social events that bring us closer together as sisters. You will often find us hosting Disney-themed parties or watching a movie together. When one of our members, Amanda Watson, competed in Miss America, we had a Miss America-themed party to support her and view the show. We also host many events throughout the year, such as various holiday parties and two annual dances, semi-formal (held with PMA) and formal. Some of our favorite activities include craft afternoons and coloring in the rotunda. Some years, we hold retreats for sisters to spend some quality time together. In short, we love spending time together! We really view each other as being sisters and most of our best friends are our SAI sisters. Once you're an SAI sister, you are a sister for life; we hold this idea very close to our hearts. If this sounds like something you're interested in, check out the Calendar page to find out more about upcoming events.
