The SBMC tutorial program is available for kids ages 5-12 from at-risk environments who require additional help in school work.  Youth must be referred to the club or recommended by SBMC volunteers.  The tutorial program occurs throughout the week on the campus of UNC.

Music Program

The SBMC music program is available to youth ages 8-12 from at risk environments who benefit from having a positive hobby to deter them from peer pressure and negativity.    Membership is open firstly to youth enrolled in the SBMC tutorial program and secondly to youth referred to the club or recommended by SBMC volunteers.  The music program is held throughout the week in the evening on the UNC campus.

SBMC Teen Outreach Programs

Mentoring Program (Venturing Crew)

The SBMC Mentoring program is available to young men and women ages 13-20.  Each member is matched with a SBMC volunteer who will serve as a role model, coach, advocate, a resource person.  The mentor program is designed to use outdoor activities, social outings, and organized meetings to teach young people about life, character building, faith, self-reliance, and leadership.

ONEWAY Magazine

ONEWAY Magazine is a media instrument used by the SBMC venturing crew to enlighten the community, parents, sponsors, and other young people about SBMC projects and issues surrounding the lives of young people.  The magazine gives SBMC members and volunteers the opportunity to use their talents in the areas of short story writing, drawing, poetry, editing, graphics and design, as well as publishing. ONEWAY Magazine is distributed throughout the community periodically during the year by SBMC members.
