American-Scandinavian Foundation Fellowships

The American-Scandinavian Foundation provides fellowships for advanced research or study in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Scholarships are intended to support a year-long stay and priority is given to graduate students for dissertation-related study or research. Fellowships are offered in amounts up to $20,000.Visit the American-Scandinavian Foundation Website for more information. Eligibility Criteria:The applicant's research plans must be well-defined and necessitate a stay in Scandinavia.

Eligibility

  1. United States citizen or United States permanent resident status is required.
  2. The applicant must complete his or her undergraduate education by the start of their time in Scandinavia.
  3. Team-project applications are accepted, but each member of the team must submit an individual application.
  4. Applicants must have language proficiency in the area of their proposed research.  The American-Scandinavian Foundation considers it desirable to have some ability in a Scandinavian language, even if it is not necessary for completion of research.
