Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program

The program provides financial assistance to students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and achievement, exceptional promise, and financial need to undertake graduate study leading to a doctoral degree or Master of Fine Arts (MFA). The Department of Education awards fellowships in selected fields of study of the arts, humanities and social sciences.

Eligibility

  1. Limited to students who at the time of application have not yet completed their first full year of doctoral or MFA study; or will be entering graduate school the next academic year.
  2. Applicants must demonstrate financial need by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid in year that they apply for the fellowship.
  3. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, permanent residents of the U.S., or citizens of any one of the Freely Associated States. 
  4. Javits Fellowships must be used at an accredited U.S. College or university.

Applicants may download the application directly from the Javits website.The application and accompanying materials are submitted directly to the Javits Program.
