Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program
The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship Program
seeks to attract outstanding young people who have an interest
in pursuing a career in the Foreign Service of the U. S. Department
of State. Graduating seniors and recent graduates with strong
academic records are encouraged to apply and those selected
will enter into one of the most exciting and rewarding careers
available. This program encourages the involvement of members
of minority groups and those with financial need. The
Rangel award consists of ten fellowships of up to $28,000
annually towards tuition, room, board, books and mandatory
fees for completion of a two-year master's degree. At the
conclusion of two years of study, the Rangel Fellow is expected
to obtain a degree in international affairs or a related subject
(such as public administration, public policy, business administration,
foreign languages, economics, political science, communications)
at a graduate or professional school approved by the Ralph
J. Bunche International Affairs Center.

Eligibility
- Only US Citizens will be considered as applicants.
- Applicants must be in the senior year of their
undergraduate study or have completed their undergraduate
degree by June.
- Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average
of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale at the time of application.
Selection
- Consideration will be given to qualified applicants who, in addition
to outstanding leadership skills and academic achievement, demonstrate
financial need. Ten Fellowships will be awarded
- Awardees may be in their senior year of college, or recently graduated
from college and engaged in a relevant international affairs career
- A candidate's community, academic, other extracurricular, and leadership
activities will be considered during the selection process
- Two letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and examples of writing
skills will be required
- Candidates selected for final consideration will be brought to Washington, D.C.,
for interviews
- Applicants should review the Foreign Service requirements
for medical, security and suitability clearances (see http://www.careers.state.gov)
- Applicants are expected to register for the Foreign Service Written Examination
