Trips

Offshore Carolina tries to organize a few diving trips each year. Some are to nearby sites in North Carolina, while others are to sites around the country or abroad. Which trips are organized depends on the interests and motivation of the club members each year. Any member is free to take the lead on organizing a diving trip.

Here is a list of some of our past trips. You can see photos from some of our trips if you follow the "pictures" link above.

2010-2011: Key Largo

This winter break, the club will be diving in Key Largo! The trip will be 3 nights (with 2 days of diving) and may cost around $325 plus tax and travel. It will be fun- don't miss it!

2009-2010: Lecanto Strikes Back

Following the great success of our previous trip, the club voted to return to Crystal River and Lecanto, FL in January 2010. Like last year, we got to snorkel with manatees, visit the Crystal River caverns, and see the Rainbow River. New this year were visits to the Blue Grotto and the Devil's Den.

2008-2009: Diving in Lecanto, canto, canto...

In January 2009, the club organized a 4-day trip to Crystal River and Lecanto, FL. We got to play with manatees, swim down the Rainbow River, visit the denizens of the Catfish Hotel, and explore the entrances to several caves.

2007-2008: Trip to Wilmington, NC

The club's first trip since being re-founded was to Wilmington, a coastal city about 150 miles SSE of Chapel Hill.

Fall 2007: Club Re-Founded

A different UNC Scuba club existed years earlier but was allowed to fade away. Offshore Carolina was restarted under new leadership in Fall 2007.
