About the SECC

The State Employees Combined Campaign is the only charitable giving program authorized for the state employee workplace. The purpose of the SECC is to allow state employees the opportunity to contribute to charitable organizations in an orderly and uniform process. "Charitable organization" is a non-partisan organization that is tax-exempt for both the IRS and N.C. tax purposes.

The SECC is designed to help charities raise the money they need to continue their missions. Many charities are too small to hold a fund raiser the size that SECC can. The SECC allows these charities to be involved in a fundraising campaign that reaches a multitude of people throughout North Carolina. In the 20-year history of the SECC, state employees have given more than $60 million to support non-profit organizations that are providing assistance in communities across our state.

UNC-Chapel Hill is the largest contributor to the SECC.
