About the SECC

Carolina Cares: Giving for a Brighter Tomorrow is the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s 2007 State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC).

The SECC is the only charitable giving program authorized for the state employee workplace. The purpose of the SECC is to allow state employees the opportunity to contribute to charitable organizations in an orderly and uniform process.

You can participate in this year’s campaign by learning more about participating charitable organizations, learning how to give or attending a campaign event.

To help others realize their wishes, UNC extends campaign

Dec. 6, 2007—Fifteen year old Dustin had one wish, to go on a cruise to the Virgin Islands. Dustin, who has received treatment at the UNC Hospital, was granted his wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina—one of the charities supported by the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC). Update on campaign progress

Nov. 9, 2007—There are nearly 1000 charities that University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill employees can select from for their donations to this year's State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC). The monies collected support the elderly who need a hot meal, cancer research, the homeless, the Children's Hospital and many other charities that provide assistance to those who are in need. Nov. 9, 2007—A number of schools and departments on campus have held events to raise funds for the SECC this campaign. From kickoffs to cookoffs to costume contests, organizers have reported the events were been both successful and fun.
