Information About the Club
FALL
SEMESTER:
As there is no snow in the fall, the club takes care of administrative details
during this time, such as collecting dues, paperwork, and voting on stuff.
To make the trips cheaper in the spring, we will do fundraisers and
community service (we can earn money from the sports club council for this!).
*You must be active in the fall to
receive discounts in the spring.*
We will also have several social events for the club members to get to
know each other. Depending on snow,
we may take a warm-up trip to Boone at the end of the semester.

WINTER
BREAK:
Make
sure to reserve the last week or so of Christmas break for our big trip!
We go somewhere different every year…
Aspen, Jackson Hole, Whistler, Vail, you name it. You
are guaranteed to meet lots of people on this trip, get a ton of
skiing/snowboarding in, and have lots of fun.
All levels welcome. We
typically have enough people go on this trip to receive huge group discounts on
lodging and tickets.
SPRING
SEMESTER:
The
club takes approximately five weekend trips to various mountains in N.C.,
Virginia, and West Virginia, competing against schools such as Duke,
State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Appalachian State.
Visit www.uscsa.com for more information (we
are the Southeast conference). Many club members participate in
the collegiate racing during these trips. Racing
is certainly not required, but encouraged.
Some of our members are highly competitive, but most of us take racing
very lightly, using it as a learning experience.
Racers typically get discounted lift tickets for $20-$30 a day, as
opposed to the standard $60-$70. This
is another incentive to race! Lodging
is typically very cheap on these trips, because we can split the room cost
between many people. But be prepared
for a close bonding experience…
TO
SUM IT UP:
1. All levels are welcome. We usually
even have a handful of complete beginners, who get a group discount on lessons
together.
2.
Skiing/Snowboarding is a costly sport, but our team makes it as cheap as
possible with group discounts, fundraising money, and funding from the UNC
sports council.

3.
Skiing and Snowboarding are lifetime sports.
We can help you gain experience and skills, no matter what level you are.
4.
We have a
ton of fun, both on and off the slopes.
If you are active in the club, you are guaranteed to meet a wide range of
people, and have a great time.
