Why explore space?:
Reasons from the head: First, it is awfully dangerous to keep the only
consciousness that we know of on one planet. Also, learning about
space and other planets, and how to live on them, can help us learn to
live on an earth with diminishing resources and an increasing
population.
Reasons from the heart: to expand the human spirit, to increase
knowledge and maybe even wisdom, to explore the beauty of the universe
that we've only glimpsed a small bit of. And, who knows, maybe even to
meet other life.

Why explore space?: because there is an infinity to learn and discover and we do not know any of it.

Random: "Physics is like sex. Sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it." - R. Feynman

Year, major, hometown: sophomore, undecided from Kernersville, NC

Why explore space?: I think it's more of a question of 'Why not?', really. Never before has mankind had so much possibility for discovering new things and exploring the unknown, and never before has our race shown so much apathy towards fulfilling its potential.

Random: "Are we not drawn onward, we few, drawn onward to new era?"
