Celebrating 27 years of art
Local sculptors bring art into full bloom at the North Carolina Botanical Garden for the 27th year.

For the 27thyear, Sculpture in the Gardenpromises a fresh perspective on the Botanical Garden with an opportunity to see handcrafted art from local sculptors.
“The original idea was to bring local artists here to demonstrate art in the garden,” said Exhibit Coordinator Cricket Taylor. “This is something visitors can depend on showing up every fall.”
Between now and Sept. 19, artists will be the ones showing up — installing their latest pieces of handcrafted sculpture.
Chapel Hill native Mike Roig polished up one of his installations as he explained what displaying art in this community does for him.
“To be able to express the creative energies that I have as readily as I do — that’s a blessing,” said Roig.
Each piece that is part of the display is also available to purchase, with proceeds benefiting the garden. Organizers say there are more than 50 pieces of work on display as part of 38 installations. In all, 24 artists are taking part.
Sculpture in the Garden will be on display from Sept. 20– Dec. 11.
