Gaining new perspectives at TEDxUNC

The annual campus event focused on the human body, featuring everything from mental health to physical disabilities.

More than 1,000 people filled Memorial Hall at UNC-Chapel Hill on Feb. 27 to learn more about something truly universal: the human body.

The afternoon of presentations, discussions and other activities was part of TEDxUNC 2016, an annual event on campus with a wide-ranging focus this year on the human body, featuring everything from mental health to physical disabilities. Fourteen speakers – some from Carolina and others from around the country – took the stage to deliver TED talks, designed to share ideas in a personal, high-energy style and inspire audiences to consider other points of view.

“One of the speakers talked about looking at people and noticing their differences and respecting them, and making a positive judgment based on that,” said Emma Grant, a senior Global Studies major. “That really resonated with me, because it’s not something that a lot of people do.”
