"North Carolina and the Civil War" exhibit featuring more than 350 personal belongings, photographs, military items and personal accounts, that tell the story of the military and home front, with a focus on 15 individuals. Admission is free.

Valley of the Shadow Project
The Valley of the Shadow Project is a digital archive about the Civil War that has attracted three million visitors and considerable attention in the educational community and beyond. Dr. Edward Ayers, professor of history at UVA and director of the Valley of the Shadow Project, will discuss the collaborative way it has been built, the uses to which it is being put, and the lessons learned about future digital projects.
