Yo Soy
Latina
Friday, March 19, 8:00
Great Hall
The hit stage play, is funny, honest and evocative. The characters range from a non-Spanish speaking, blond-haired, blue-eyed Colombian actress who tries desperately to find a way to be more Latina, to a dark-skinned Panamanian Latina who as a child fantasized about becoming Farrah Fawcett so that she could play "Charlie's Angels" with the rest of her friends. The author, Linda Nieves-Powell has become the voice for
Latin women in America and has created the perfect fictional setting to address the many real issues that are prevalent in the lives of most Latinas. FREE tickets available in advance at the Union box office.
Co-sponsored by the Carolina
Union Activities Board, Carolina Women's Center, Lambda Pi Chi sorority, and
the Office of Minority Affairs.
