As an internationally recognized leader in the field, the School of Journalism & Mass Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill must strive for continued excellence in the realm of global communication. An official organization for students interested in global media can foster an environment in which the school can more effectively meet this objective. Thus, the Global Media Student Association seeks to fill this important role.

GMSA's Long-Term Vision

The members of this organization will work faithfully to cultivate its potential, raising its quality and significance over time.  At its highest level of development, GMSA will play a direct role in facilitating international media research and professional networking at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication.  It will coordinate with partners overseas to increase the depth and scope of its activities, and it will be recognized as a respected organization for the advancement of internationalism in the field.  Its existence will be an additional feature with which the department can continue to attract some of the brightest students from throughout the nation and the world.
