(Theta Woman) (I Am More Than That)

Theta Woman

Loyal to the cocoon
From where she comes
The Theta Woman rises out of a lavender dawn
To proudly bridge the gaps in her world
With her butterfly wings.

With honesty and courage
She lives and loves without conditions.
Surrendering to her beauty and power,
She gives and receives freely
Remembering her vision, her purpose, her heart.

Creator of her own definition
She inspires those around her
To be proud and selfless
To give unselfishly over and over again.
Loving herself as she loves others,
The butterfly transcends

- taking others with her in her flight.

I Am More Than That

Performed at the 2006 Masala Fashion Show

A being of beauty, a being of grace
Oh so much more than just a pretty face.
I can work in the city,
I can work in the house,
I work sun rise and even sun set.
Most times I ain't even started yet!

I am up, I am down, I am all around.

At times I may be seen as just a little girl,
A person needing to be rescued,
To be saved from herself
But give me time and you will see that, YES

I am much more than that!

I run the house,
I cook the food,
I "woman" the accounts and
I make the money that keeps clothes on our backs!

I am married yet maintain my independence for I shall let no person keep me asunder!

You may see the heels and think of me as only an 8 to 5 girl
That got to the corner office by flashing a little skin
But please believe that breaking that 'glass ceiling' required much more protection
than Chanel and Steve Madden.

Let not your mind go astray,
Because yet again I say,
I am much more than that!

I bring life into this world,
I cherish the good in people
and despite what the stereotypes say,
I love the thought of competition to keep me on my pedicured toes!

I serve this nation in more ways than ONE
From cleaning the floors you sit on tonight
To keeping a watchful eye on the fields of foreign conflict.

I am Eve,
I am Nefertiti,
I am much more than a set of X cromosomes.
When you see me know this...

I AM MUCH MORE THAN THAT!
