Theta Nu Xi is committed to serving the campus and community. We participate in various service and educational projects, both independently and in conjunction with other organizations. Each member is expected to perform at least six hours of community service per month, and our members participate in a wide variety of activities.
The National Organization recently distributed a press release announcing our new philanthropy, Girls For A Change. Please feel free to check out the press release and to visit Girls For A Change's website for more information.
The national philanthropy of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority Inc. is Girls For A Change.
In
2007, the "Mr. Theta Nu Xi Pageant" tradition continued. This
past year's winner was Ricky Jackson of Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural
Fraternity, Inc.

In the fall of
2006, the
ALMIGHTY Alpha chapter started a new service event dedicated to raising
money for our previous national philanthropy, National Conference for
Committee and Justice (NCCJ). This program set out not only to raise
money and
awareness for our national philanthropy, but also to recognize the
gentlemen on campus that embodied our tenets. Gerard Anthony was the
first winner of the title of "Mr. Theta Nu Xi." The "Mr. Theta Nu Xi
Pageant" was a succesful event that we plan on continuing in the
future.
Between 2003 and 2007, the Sherehe tradition continued with "UNC Idol,"
an American Idol
style talent competition in which all proceeds benefit our national
philanthropy NCCJ.
In 1999-2002, the Sherehe benefit concert continued, with all proceeds benefiting the Orange County Rape Crisis Center.
One
of Theta Nu Xi's goals is to
aid women locally and around the world. In 1998-1999 the Alpha Chapter
undertook a fundraising campaign to aid the Tokor Women of Ghana.
Sherehe (which means "celebration" in Swahili), an annual benefit
concert was born. The first Sherehe raised $667 for women in need.
Improving the campus and
community through educational events and
activities is a part of our mission. The following are just a few of
the ways we've sparked thought and dialogue.
