James Leloudis
James Leloudis is Associate Professor of History, Associate Dean for Honors, and Director of the James M. Johnston Center for Undergraduate Excellence. He earned his B.A. in History with highest honors from UNC in 1977, an MA from Northwestern University in 1979, and a Ph.D. form UNC in 1989. His teaching and research interests include the modern South and the history of higher education. Leloudis is the recipient of an Undergraduate Students Teaching Award and the Ruth and Phillip Hettleman Award for Outstanding Scholarly Accomplishment by Young Faculty. His published works include Like a Family: The Making of a Southern Cotton Mill World (1987), and Schooling the New South: Pedagogy, Self, and Society in North Carolina, 1880-1920 (1996), both from the University of North Carolina Press. He is currently completing a book on the War on Poverty.
