Because the information disclosed via email is not confidential, our attorneys do not give advice over the internet and we urge you not to send any information regarding a legal issue. Location

Our offices are located in Suite 3512 of the Student Union, above the auditorium and the DTH offices. Find us via the campus map

Hours

Carolina Student Legal Services is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., every class and exam day, including the summer sessions. We are closed on Reading Days, Unviversity Holidays, and breaks between academic sessions - any day classes or exams are not held. Please check the University Academic Calendar to determine what dates we are closed.

Appointments

Before contacting us to schedule an appointment, please check and your eligibility for our services. To do this, call the Cashier's Office and verify that you are currently a full-time student paying the Student Legal Services fee. Once you have determined your eligibility for our services, please call the office at (919)962-1303 and speak with Natalie Deyneka, or stop by to schedule an appointment. Please be aware that we cannot schedule appointments before 8:30AM and our last appointment time is at 4:00PM. Appointments cannot be scheduled via email.

What to Bring to Appointments

When you come in for your appointment, we advise you to bring any information that you believe will be helpful, and require that you bring the following for:

Expunctions-

  • an uncertified copy of your criminal record, which can be obtained from the Orange County Court House in Hillsborough, Monday through Friday, 8:30am until 5pm, or at the Orange County Court House satellite location at the Chapel Hill Post Office on Franklin Street, at Henderson, on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm
  • if you signed a Deferred Prosecution Agreement, you MUST bring a copy of this with you. If you do not currently have a copy of it, you can ONLY get this from the Orange County Court House in Hillsborough, Monday through Friday, 8:30am until 5pm.
  • Two stamped envelopes, letter size
  • Landlord/Tenant Issues-

  • A copy of your lease
  • Alcohol/Drug/Traffic Citations-

  • A copy of your citation
