Renovated
in 1998 Lenoir Hall has few rivals at other universities
because of the varied and delicious meals it offers
as Carolina's main dining facility.
Managed
by Carolina
Dining Service, the facility has the capacity to
serve 12,000 meals each day. The popular Top of Lenoir
features healthy entrees, rotisserie meats and homestyle
vegetables, wood-fired pizzas, fresh-baked rolls and
homemade desserts. Diners can choose from a variety
of fast-food shops on Lenoir Mainstreet. And, adjoining
the university's most popular courtyard, the Ram CafÈ
offers coffee, fruit, pastries, and more in a relaxed
setting that includes outdoor seating. Completed 1939
and open for service to students when they returned
from Christmas holidays in January 1940, Lenoir Hall
is named for General William Lenoir, a Revolutionary
War patriot who was named the first chairman of the
Board of Trustees of the university in 1790.
